What Christmas Means to Us

Christmas at The Rose Center This was the very first Christmas at The Rose Center in Alabama, so of course, had to celebrate with a party! We had a lovely Christmas tree, and we decorated plenty of homemade ornaments. Some had an orange rose, some had first initials of names, and there were even paperclip angel ornaments. There was glitter everywhere! There was Mexican food for a “Feliz Navidad” theme--along with Christmas cookies, of course. Everyone wore goofy, crazy Christmas sweaters. We got to talk with participants about their children and Christmas plans. It was such a nice change of pace from the conversations we usually have about trauma-focused and therapy-minded. While it’s so important to do the difficult work...

November Newsletter from Wisconsin

The Rose Home has had a busy month! We can’t wait to tell you about our participants, events happening around The Rose Home, and how our Outreach team is changing lives. BIRTHDAY WISHES One participant celebrated a birthday in November! The participant loves to create art, so some of the coaches threw her an art-themed party with plenty of crafts. The activities included painting small tiles, making easels out of colored popsicle sticks, and decorating cupcakes with sprinkles and candy. Other homemade treats included a confetti cake and pretzels and rice crispy treats dipped in colored frosting to look like paint brushes. One of the coolest parts of birthdays is that they highlight how much support the girls at The...

A Thankful Thanksgiving

Yesterday was a very special day for a very special young lady.  In February of this year, one of the first graduates from our three-month trauma intensive program at the Rose Home moved out of the Rose Home and back in with her mom. When she felt that she was ready to move on, she knew it would be tough. But we were committed to supporting her as much as she needed.  A few weeks ago, she stopped into the office for one of her follow up appointments with her case worker. She beamed as she told a few of our staff members that since she left the Rose Home she got a job, has received two promotions, saved...

October Newsletter for Wisconsin

The Rose Home turned one year old on October 10! Our first participant to stay at the home has been in the home for one year and is officially one year sober. We are so proud of how far she has come! The other girls in The Rose Home surprised her with her 1-year medallion and cupcakes to celebrate. You can read more about the one-year celebration here. Our Outreach Team had a very busy October. We had five new referrals in just one week--a new record for us! When our referral numbers go up, it can seem like trafficking is increasing in the area, but that’s not the case; it just means that we are reaching more people who...

September Newsletter from Wisconsin

The Rose Home kept its programming going through September. Along with the everyday routines of goal setting, therapy, chores, legal appointments, and group meetings, there were a few extra exciting moments, too. One day, the ladies went ziplining at the N.E.W. Zoo! It was a new experience for everyone. Several girls were nervous, and one girl was so afraid that she was in tears before she went. Eventually, though, she decided to take the literal “leap of faith” off the platform and try the zipline. It felt like such a freeing experience for her that she went a second time! The zipline was both a fun experience and a creative way for the girls to practice trusting God and themselves. At...
