Survivors Find Hope at The Rose Home

Human trafficking takes a lot from a person – their safety, their sense of self-worth, and even their hopes for the future. At the Rose Home we use vision boards to encourage the women to reclaim their future and to begin to dream big again. When each new survivor feels settled into The Rose Home, she sits down with a coach to create her very own vision board. The vision board helps her imagine what she wants her life to look like and how it could possibly happen. When it’s finished, a coach hangs the vision board in her room so she can see it every day. On the hard days when nothing seems to be going right, she can...

December Newsletter from Wisconsin

The Rose Home The ladies at The Rose Home have had a busy December! With a home at almost full capacity with participants at almost every stage, it’s been a month with many different needs and many different personalities. The good news is that at every stage, they are making progress. One participant is participating more in groups than she did before. The two participants who have been here the longest have been making real progress and using “street thinking” a lot less. The two newer participants are doing very well acclimating to The Rose Home and putting real effort into the programming. These ladies are trying their best to change their lives for the better, and we’re honored to...

A Message from a Survivor to You

January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month, so we wanted to do something extra special. Like we say: "Awareness alone doesn't change anything, but nothing can change without awareness." Most of our awareness efforts messages are from the professionals on our Outreach Team based on their one-on-one experience with survivors. This month, though, we turned to the survivors themselves. We asked survivors in Wisconsin and Alabama what they want the general public to know about human trafficking. One survivor said, “Trafficking is real. It does happen, and most women do not want it and are forced to do it.”Whether johns know it or not, when they buy sex, they are likely paying someone to sell their body against their will. Around the...

Celebrating One Year Of Freedom!

Today is a very special day because it marks one year since our very first resident came to the Rose Home! This morning she invited the key staff to the Rose Home (her home) for a little celebration. She wrote us a very thoughtful letter about her time at the home and presented us with some very special gifts that she made herself. I sat there, admittedly pretty choked up, watching a young lady who walked through that front door with her head hung low from shame and confusion, now standing confident, bold, and full of purpose. This year was hard for her. It was hard for our staff. It was hard for me. But to see this young...
